Arch Construction

ARCH CONSTRUCTION

Our Archi.

Our Arch was been destroyed.....

EXPERIENCE:

-It was a good lesson for me because I get to learn something by using my hand which I had to mold the clay (monster clay) by using both of my hand, our creativity to design a limitation arch and also   through my observation of our arch performance. Though at the end of the class our arch was been knock down due to the bullets of our classmates. However, it was a fun activity that day.

PERSONAL CONCLUSION:

- The first attempt for our arch to withstand the load which 3 smartphone, our arch was really sturdy and can last for around 10 seconds.
- Then the third attempt where by there will be 7 smartphones on our arch and need to last for 50 seconds. When one of our classmates already done putting all the 7 phones, the middle of arch was started to sink and I was quite worried because the arch need to last for quite sometime and the phones will might fell down but surprisingly our arch did withstand the load in 50 seconds.
- Hence, for that observation I would say that we have to let the arch to dry for a while so that the structure become more sturdy though our was quite sturdy on that day but to be sure we should let it dry for a longer time and also the design for each parts of top arch should be well design in order to give more solid on the top and also the middle parts should little bit smaller because the one that we did was kind of big and also heavier than the other parts.
- Other than that, the last test where our classmates will throw some small clay or plasticine as a ammunition to the last standing arch after the seismic test. Sadly for this test our arch was destroy because of the top arch was not solid enough.

Element Study 2: 3D

ELEMENT STUDY 2: 3D

After finished with the element study 1: 2D , for this exercise we will be doing a model of our insect. First thing we had to do is sketch of our geometric insects and show to our lecture to be approved by them then we can proceed to do the model making. However, the requirement for the model is we have to show the lines, planes, dots and volume.

First attempt of model making but it was unsuccessful. After getting advice from the lecture, I had some ideas to improved of my model.

The prototype of the body.

To get the shape and the volume of the body by cutting little bit so that I can make the shape.

At last, the body and the claws already finish.

REFLECTION:

I had fun doing this model making even though I had faced a lot of challenges and errors occur.

Element Study 1 : 2D

ELEMENT STUDY 1: 2D

For this exercise, we had to identify the design principle and formal organization about the 3 pose of insect that we had drawn for the last exercise and we had to identify 3 variations for each zoom in drawing on cartridge. The last requirement for this exercise we had to sketch a geometric shape for the 3 pose of the insect on a butter paper.

Identify the design principle and formal organization

Identify 3 variations for each drawing

Draw a geometric shape of the insects

REFLECTION:

For this exercise I was quite struggling with the understanding and sometimes get confused about the basics elements and design elements but after reading for couple of times I managed to understand and get to identify it but some part of my identifying is not correct but at least I get to learn from my mistake and the lecture explain more about my mistakes.

MIYAMA STAG BEETLE

Miyama stag beetle also known as 'Deep Mountain Stag Beetle'. This can be found around mid June to August. The size of male beetle is bigger than the female beetle. The male beetle will fight with another male beetle to get the female beetle and also to be mate.

Reflection:

From my experience, I had quite difficulty with the rendering since this insect have a smooth surface and I need to identify which part that I had to render little bit dark or light especially the part where we have to render the zoom part because when I zoom in the picture became very blurry or sometime look pixels. For this type of insect, it took me quite sometime to get the information about this insect because this insect is not so famous then the other species of stag beetle. To be honest this is my first time I completed the drawing and render and it look nice from my point view.
